The Federal Government is requiring pipeline owners to inspect the underwater pipelines that cross rivers, lakes and water bodies in general as part of a pipeline safety program.   We were retained by CenterPoint Energy to inspect and report on underwater gas pipeline crossings.  As part of the project, we retained Viking Marine Services to provide professional commercial diving and watercraft services.  Our scope also included land surveying services to provide horizontal and vertical locations to map the pipeline routes.   Where observable, the conditions of the pipeline protective coating, anchorage or weights as applicable and pipeline support or bedding conditions were noted.  Bank elevation, soils, and conditions at the pipeline entrances to the water bodies were also recorded.  We have received very positive feedback from our client and have completed one year of this inspection program.
