The MN National Guard at Camp Ripley has an existing educational facility that is shared by many users, including the National Guard and MN State Patrol. In order to adequately accommodate a growing number of users, the guard decided to expand the facility by constructing a new building adjacent to the existing building as well as a new housing building. The new buildings required all civil utilities including storm sewer piping, as well as multiple parking lots. Due to the project’s proximity to the Camp Ripley airfield, all stormwater management was required to be done underground with the purpose of not attracting waterfowl. EVS designed four separate stormwater management facilities all utilizing underground storage structures. Also included in the design was the capture and reuse of rainfall for irrigation purposes.
